Building Permits


NOTE - NEW PROCEDURAL CHANGE FOR ALL APPLICATIONS - When filing building permit applications, for consideration by the Planning Board, those applications must be filed with the Addison Town Clerk no later than the 20th of the month to be considered by the Addision Planning Board during the first meeting after that date. Late filings will be considered by the Planning Board during the next month's regularly scheduled meeting. This change allows the Planning Board ample time they need to assure all applications are completed and for review by the review subcommittee.

Burn permits are issued for brush piles, wood debris and agricultural burns only. Allowable burn times is after 5:00pm and before 9:00am. The exception to the default "after 5pm" restriction is when there is a steady rain or the ground is completely covered in snow.

Boat Mooring Permit

Mooring Fees:
Residents $50
Non Residents $125
Rental $100

Mooring fees are good for 1 year (January 1st thru December 31st). After that time, a late fee will be added to the mooring fee - Resident late fee will be $50 and a Non-Resident late fee will be $125.

Harbor Master discretion of the following specifications
Granite block or mushroom anchor (a ample size/weight)v Heavy chain bottom 1/5 times maximum depth
Light chain or nylon 1.0 times maximum depth (if floatation buoy is used)
Bridle 2.5 time chock to waterline if coming off a floatation buoy
Bridle or rider coming off bottom chain must be heavy nylon and of sufficient length to provide ratio as listed above

Anyone with a boat 45' or over must see Harbor Master for instructions
All existing moorings, temporary anchors and all moorings to be set in the future shall be of sufficient size to the vessel for which it is to be used.
All moorings and their locations shall be approved by the Harbor Masters
Boat and/or mooring owners will be liable for any damages caused by faulty, inadequate or improperly placed moorings.
All moorings buoys will be marked with a permanent name tag and/or number assigned to the owner by the Harbor Master.

AUTOMOBILE GRAVEYARD, RECYCLING OR JUNKYARD PERMITS

1. Complete the Application in full and return to the town office with the appropriate fees.

2. Property must be inspected by the CEO

3. The Municipal Officers will set a date for a public hearing

4. A notice must be sent via Registered Mail to all abutting property owners and the Department of Transportation informing them of the application and the hearing date and time. The town office will take care of this and charge the applicant for the cost. If the applicant prefers to take care of this procedure, they must provide proof to the Municipal Officers before the public hearing.

5. The town office will then post a Notice of Hearing, between 7 and 14 days prior to the hearing in at least two public places and in one local newspaper.

6. If the application is for a first time establishment, the Municipal Officers must give written notice to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles between 7 and 14 days prior to the hearing.

7. It is recommended that the applicant attend the public hearing to answer any questions that might arise.

8. The State now requires that all Automobile Junkyards, Recycling, and Graveyard businesses obtain a State Dealers License. These forms are also available at the town office. This needs to be done annually even though your permit might be approved for a 5 year period. The cost for this license is $150.00/year. These are submitted directly to the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

9. A permit, other than a limited-term permit, may not be granted for an Automobile Graveyard, Recycling or Junkyard Business that is not in compliance with all applicable provisions of the automobile dealer or recycler licensing provisions of Title 29-A, Chapter 9. The Municipal Officers may award a limited-term permit conditional upon the applicant providing proof of compliance with the State of Maine provisions, within the limited term.

DOG LICENSES

Dog licenses cannot be done online, they are only available at the Town Office or by mail. All dogs 6 months of age or older must be registered in the town you reside. A Neuter/Spay certificate is required for first time registrations. A current rabies certificate is required every time the vaccination expires. All dogs must be registered by December 31 of each year. It is unlawful for any dog, licensed or unlicensed to be at large, except when used for hunting. The owner or keeper of a dog found at large is subject to penalties and/or fines. THE TOWN OFFICE WILL NO LONGER ISSUE REMINDERS.

Neuter/Spay Dog $6.00
Non Neuter/Spay Dog $11.00
Late fee February 1st $25.00
